What’s the official sandwich of this year’s political campaign season? According to a Sara Lee Bakery Breads poll, Americans say it’s the “spin sandwich,” which is heaped high with bologna. Coinciding with the presidential election is National Sandwich Month in November, and once again the Spin Sandwich wins.
In the Sara Lee poll, 51 percent of respondents said the Spin Sandwich (with lots of bologna) best describes the recent campaign season. The Spin Sandwich outpolled by more than 2-to-1 the Swing Vote sandwich (ham on one side and turkey on the other) and the American Hero sandwich (roast beef and American cheese) as the most common sandwich fed to voters on the campaign trail.
Below are recipes for the Spin, American Hero and Swing Vote sandwiches, as well as recipes for the Green Party, Boston Patriot and Texas Round Up sandwiches.
