Red Wine Brown Sauce Ingredients 1/2 cup red wine ($0.45) 3 cloves shallots, chopped ($0.20) 2 tsp granulated sugar ($0.03) 1/2 tsp peppercorns ($0.02) 1 cup beef broth ($0.55) 1 Tbsp cornstarch ($0.02)
Red Wine Brown Sauce Instructions 1. Simmer beef broth in a small sauce pan until reduced by half 2. In separate bowl mix cornstarch with 1/4 cup water until free of lumps, then combine with broth reduction 3. Continue cooking 4-5 minutes 4. Meanwhile simmer wine, shallots, sugar and peppercorns until reduced by half 5. Combine broth and wine mixture, and simmer until mixture coats the back of a wooden spoon 6. Add more cornstarch if necessary
