BBQ Spareribs

January 1, 2007

Okay, you've been eating salads, drinking lots of water, exercising daily, right? So, it's time to treat yourself with these fabulous ribs. Hey, you deserve 'em!

  BBQ Spareribs

Ingredients:
5 pounds beef spareribs, cut in serving size pieces
water for the hot bath
1 cup freshly brewed Dunkin’ Donuts Original Blend coffee
1 cup molasses
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/3 cup prepared mustard
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
1-2 dashes hot red pepper

Directions:
Preheat oven to 450°F. In a large, shallow pan, place the spareribs over a rack. Add enough water in the pan to cover the bottom, about an inch deep. Roast for one hour. Remove the pan and discard the drippings. Replace the pan only this time, place the ribs directly in the pan instead of on the rack and set aside while you make the BBQ sauce.

In a small sauce pan combine the coffee, molasses, and seasonings and stir over medium heat until blended and steaming. Pour this sauce over the ribs and bake 30 more minutes, basting frequently with the sauce. Serve hot with rice or potatoes, green salad, and fresh fruit for dessert. And, of course, a cup of your favorite coffee. Enjoy!
